It's been a while since the last Salt Yard opening, but that's about to change. The Spanish/Italian restaurant originally opened in Fitzrovia before adding a few more restaurants to the group - Dehesa, Ember Yard and Opera Tavern. Recently, they've been bought by Urban Pubs & Bars who have decided it's time to grow again, starting with a brand new Salt Yard - this time in Westfield.
Salt Yard Westfield will, as with the original, concentrate on small plates, again with a focus on Spain and Italy. That means, alongside plenty of jamon ibérico, you can expect dishes like:
- Roasted piquillo pepper croquetas with whipped caprino fresco
- Braised lamb breast, rosemary scented cannellini beans & wild garlic
- Charred octopus with arroz negro & saffron alioli
- Confit cod loin with smoked anchovy romesco & wilted baby spinach
- Courgette flowers, monte enebro & blossom honey.
On top of that, there will be desserts like chocolate and olive oil mousse cake with macerated strawberries and mascarpone. Drinks will include the intriguing Padron Margarita (Padron pepper-infused tequila, agave, Cointreau & lime) and plenty of Italian and Spanish wines.
As for the look of the room, expect lots of brass, exposed brick and both banquette seating and high tapas bar tables. They'll also have a big terrace space which will have an olive tree planted in the middle of it.
It's not the only Salt Yard that's incoming - look out for a new opening from them in Borough Yards soon.
