Gaia brings high-end Greek cuisine to Mayfair

Gaia brings high-end Greek cuisine to Mayfair

There's a lot of change on Mayfair's Berkeley Street at the moment. As part of the huge One Berkeley development, there's a big new 1 Hotel Mayfair on the way and now there's also news of Gaia restaurant, which will be making its London debut (they have restaurants in Monaco and Dubai already). Apparently, they'll be opening next to a new Lotus cars showroom - so that should give you an idea of how upmarket we're talking.

Gaia are referring to themselves as a "refined taverna concept" with Greek Mediterranean cuisine as the basis for the menu. So far all we know is that they'll have a signature Fish Market, with a daily selection of fresh fish and seafood, outdoor seating, an elevated lounge and cocktail bar, a curated wine room and a members club, NYX, on the lower ground floor.

Taking a look at their Dubai restaurant's menu, here's the sort of thing on offer:

  • Smoked tuna carpaccio with black truffle dressing
  • Traditional dishes like spanakopita (spinach pie), moussaka and keftedakia
  • Fish served raw, grilled, baked with spices tomato and Greek herbs, salt crust or harissa style
  • And black truffle or lobster pasta

Greek food for Mayfair via a Dubai lens. It's all very London 2023.
