It really is ice cream weather right now and if you're looking for a fix, then we have the guide for you.
However, if you're looking for ice cream with a difference, then the new Anya Hindmarch Ice Cream Project definitely fits that bill. Instead of traditional ice cream flavours, they've come up with a list based on British storecupboard classics that's so out-there that we needed to double-check that we weren't back in April again.
While we are totally up for Frosties ice cream, or even Bird's custard ice cream, we stopped in our tracks when we saw ice cream made from Kikkoman soy sauce, Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, baked beans, mayo and more. Here's a taste of some of the more bizarre options (and their descriptions):
- Kikkoman Soy Sauce - "A delicious toasted sesame ice cream laced with umami-rich naturally brewed soy sauce"
- Heinz Mayonnaise - "A surprising rich and creamy ice cream with the zestiness of lemon and tang of vinegar"
- HP Sauce - "A fruity, aromatic taste with a spicy hit of tamarind and dates"
- Heinz Tomato Ketchup - "The perfect combination of sweet, salty and tangy flavours"
- Lea & Perrins - "A sweet tomato fruit sorbet with a splash of Worcestershire sauce"
And yes, we'd definitely be up for trying any of those - just to check, of course. If you're after something that seems a little more suited to ice cream, then there's also:
- Kellogg’s Frosties - "A rich vanilla ice cream with frosted corn flakes. Made with Tony’s closely guarded secret recipe- it’s gr-r-reat!"
- Bird’s Custard - "A smooth and creamy ice cream whipped with the original homemade taste of Bird’s custard."
- Lyle’s Golden Syrup - "An ice cream with notes of butter, caramel and honey"
- Quaker Rolled Oats - "A creamy ice cream blended with Quaker’s 100% wholegrain oats with maple syrup for a touch of sweetness"
- PG Tips - "An ice cream infused with a great tasting black tea blend. An elegant frozen afternoon pick me up"
Each one is available in-store or to take home in undeniably great-looking tubs emblazoned with their recognisable logos. They're all based on the Anya Hindmarch brands collection and, yes, you'll be able to buy those instore too.
