Updated 28/9/22 with opening date
It's always a red letter day when we hear that a new St John Restaurant is on the way.
The new opening in Marylebone will make it the third restaurant in town after the original and St John Bread and Wine (not to mention bakeries in Neal's Yard and Bermondsey). It will be an all-day restaurant, apparently kicking off the day by pairing their amazing doughnuts with Champagne in the morning. At lunchtime, they'll add a blackboard with daily specials (a callback to the bar at St John), with further specials added by dinner.
News of what's on the actual menu which has been created by Fergus Henderson and St John Chef-Director Jonathan Woolway has just been revealed and includes deep fried Welsh Rarebit along with bone marrow toast with parsley and middlewhite pork chop with chicory and sorrel.
Describing it as their "first ever wine-led establishment", you can expect the wine list here to be pretty amazing with plenty of their own label wines on offer.
St John's Trevor Gulliver says the space was "Inspired by the bars of Paris and Florence". Upstairs will be for walk-ins only where you can pull up a seat at the bar or marble counter. Downstairs will be a slightly more formal, and bookable, dining room.
