It's always a real shame to see a lovely old pub all boarded up. But having been shut for a few years now, the old Rossyln Arms in Hampstead is getting a new lease of life.
The place is being turned into Oak & Poppy from the restaurant group that are behind The Grafton Arms and The Summerhouse. An all day bar and kitchen, it'll be just as handy to pop in for a buttermilk hotcake fresh from your yomp across the Heath in the morning as it will be for a late night cocktail.
Inside, the interiors are being given a bit of a modern gussying up with a huge tree taking pride of place on the ground floor and a mix of banquette and counter seating. The all day menu sounds geared to please a broad range of folk with options including Fish Tacos with Pickled Slaw & Chipotle Mayo and Duo Beef Burgers with Cheddar, Pickles & Kimchi Mayo.
On top of that, they'll have a retractable glass roof in the main dining room - handy for both good and bar London summers.
