The hugely popular Jollibee restaurants in London may not have the enormous queues they had when they opened, but are about to launch something that might make them build up again. The Peach Mango Pie is a much-revered Jollibee dessert dish and is about to come to the UK for the first time.
Apparently, they sold 45 million of them worldwide last year so you can probably understand why Jollibee fans have been clamouring for it in the UK. The pie is simply real peaches and mangoes in a pastry crust, but boy does it have a big following, Even The Washington Post waxed lyrical about it:
...we marveled at the texture of the fried hand pie, a little crispy, a little bubbly and a little chewy. We talked about the addition of peaches to the gooey filling and whether it was a concession to the American palate. But mostly we wondered if this was the greatest fast-food dessert in existence.
So yes, expect a great deal of excitement when this launches.
The pie launches at the Jollibee Leicester Square restaurant on 23 June, and all other Jolibees in the UK soon after.
