Having built a name for their top-tier subs in Camberwell, sandwich slingers Mondo Sando are doubling up. They're just about to open a second South East London residency, this time at The White Horse in Peckham.
The lockdown-born business will serve up a new roster of sarnies, alongside an extended menu of dishes using the pub's charcoal grill.
The all-day dining residency will also feature yakitori skewers, merguez burgers and some fine-sounding Sunday roasts like a North African stuffed and rolled lamb shoulder served with crispy fennel seed roasties and miso hispi cabbage.
But it's the sandwiches that sound particularly interesting including:
- Chicken tikka masala
- Deep-fried aubergine parm
- Vegan Thai larb with toasted rice powder and black bean kewpie mayo
"It's great to be stepping back into Peckham," says Mondo's Head Chef Jack Macrae. "The White Horse is such a classic pub and the perfect home for us there. I've always felt that the good people of SE15 appreciate a decent sandwich."
