Updated 22/6/22 with menu details and opening date
Everyone's favourite Tooting brunch spot Juliets Quality Food is branching out. In an announcement on Instagram, they revealed that they'll be taking over the cafe space at Clapham's Studio Voltaire. The space itself opened last autumn with a residency by the Italian Supper Club but Juliets will be opening there from this summer.
Called Juliets Cafe & Bar, the courtyard cafe sounds like a great addition for Clapham folk. "It will be exactly the sort of neighbourhood cafe we love," they said, "serving simple, thoughtful food that is led by the seasons with the best coffee and honest, real wines. Hospitable and generous day in day out, from the early morning espresso, nourishing lunch right through to the after-work drink."
The menu at Clapham has been inspired by Studio Voltaire artists’ kitchen garden. On the menu we're promised dishes like:
- Lamb braised with mogette de vendee beans and black garlic miso bagna cauda
- English broad bean and haloumi fritters, pickled green tomato and coconut sambal.
- Grilled banana and cascara bread with salted espresso butter,
To go with the list of minimal interventiaon wines, beers and ciders there'll be snacks like fresh pecorino and broad beans to shuck and crispy chickpeas farinata with flowering thyme. We also love the fact that they've got home–brewed kombucha on the menu, made with with elderflower from Streatham common.
Best of all for a summer launch there's dining inside and out with a particularly appealing alfresco space in the courtyard garden designed by Turner Prize–nominated artist Anthea Hamilton.
In addition to all the food and drink served up in the cafe you'll also be able to pick up goodies to go including their pumpkin bread, toasted pecan and caramelised white chocolate nutella and more.
