Monica Galetti leaves MasterChef - The Professionals

It's an impressive run for sure, but after 14 years, Monica Galetti is stepping down from Masterchef: The Professionals.

Throwing in her chef's hat, she said "My family need me, my restaurant needs me and trying to balance long filming days over the next three months with all my commitments meant that something had to give." So it looks like family and her restaurant, Mere in Fitzrovia, will be the key focus for now.

MasterChef themselves also wished her well and David Ambler, Executive Editor said "Monica is one of the most talented chefs of her generation, and we fully support her decision. We have worked together closely for the past 14 years and regard Monica as an integral member of the MasterChef family. Our hope is this situation is just for this season and the door is always open for her return.” There's no news yet on who might be replacing her on the show.

The last series of the show saw private chef Dan Lee take the prize, while last year's winner Alex Webb is about to start a three month pop-up in London.
