Back when it was The Curtain the rooftop bar at the Shoreditch hotel was strictly a members-only space. So we're delighted at the much more egalitarian approach by its successor, The Mondrian. They're opening the rooftop space out to everyone, launching it as Laurel's On The Roof this summer.
The name reflcts the restaurant's LA-inspiration, being named after Laurel Canyon, and it's going to be an all day-dining and drinking spot overlooking the hotel's rooftop pool.
Starting with breakfast when they'll serve up buttermilk pancakes alongside granola and fruit bowls the menu moves to Cali classics for the lunch and dinner services with dishes including:
- Beer battered sea bream tacos with chipotle mayonnaise
- Malibu shrimp cocktails
- Roasted Aubergine with burrata, tomato pesto and roasted mushrooms
Drinks wise there's a choice of frozen Spicy Margaritas, Japanese Garibaldis, Canyon Cobblers and Wet Gibsons. And they'll be turning the dial up at weekends with live DJ sets. Sounds like a fun place to hang out - if you can get in.
