Camberwell residents should be hightailing it to Peckham Road where Frog Bakery has just recently opened. Originally run as a popup, before crowdfunding helped them kit out their new site, the bakery is the passion project of two bakers Oliver Costello and Rebecca Spaven. Between them, the duo have an impressive CV having worked for folk like Ottolenghi, Hawksmoor, Bread by Bike and Fortitude Bakehouse, among others.
At their new bakery they're selling sourdough (obvs) along with classic viennoiserie, cakes, savoury bakes and sandwiches. Everything you see is baked on-site and, as they explain is "made with intentionally-sourced ingredients, UK-grown grains and high-welfare dairy... Our aim is to be a testing ground for new ideas, whilst offering up a selection of familiar and nostalgic bakery classics."
So far they seem to have been welcomed with open arms by Camberwell residents, delighted to have a new artisan bakery on their doorstep.
