Finsbury Park's Common Ground is a bit of a Dishoom, in that there's always a queue outside it. Now the popular North London cafe is capitalising on its popularity with the daytime crowd, by extending its hours and serving up a new evening menu.
The menu, which launched a few weeks back, saw owner and chef Lucy Jones team up with her friend and consultant chef, Emma Duggan who has worked for Angela Hartnett and Gordon Ramsay. They worked with Common Ground’s own chefs, Dan Nobbs and Gerald Pospischil and have come up with a collection of plant-based and vegetarian dishes that sound genuinely interesting.
Dishes you can expect to find on offer, currently being served on Friday and Saturday evenings, include:
- Crisp Indian puri, with a chickpea, potato & fresh herb filling and lime mint coconut dressing
- King oyster scallops with cauliflower puree, monks beard, hazelnut, caper & lemon dressing and a tempeh crumb
- Japanese sesame arancini with shiso leaf emulsion
- Coffee roasted carrots with braised puy lentils, house labneh and carrot top zhoug
- Salted tahini panna cotta with sesame brittle and pistachio crumb
To go with the new evening menu, there's a wider range of drinks on offer - including a hibiscus infused Negroni and - of course - an Espresso Martini using the café’s Dark Arts coffee. There'll be beer from Hammerton and a wine list of organic or low intervention red, white, sparkling and orange varieties.
Best of all, the new menu coincides with a revamp of their garden space so you can choose to dine inside, or outdoors in their heated domes.
