Miscusi is opening its next pasta restaurant in Islington

Islington's waited a while for a pasta restaurant and soon there will be two within a few feet of each other. Hot on the heels of Noci opening on Islington Green, Italian chain Miscusi is opening nearby on Upper Street (where Masala Zone used to be).

Miscusi opened its first London restaurant earlier this year where it suffered a pretty duff review from William Sitwell, so we'll assume they're hoping for better things from their second go-around.

If you haven't heard of them before, Miscusi is based around its fresh pasta dishes and there's a big focus on sustainability. As such, they'll highlight dishes that have a lower carbon footprint - like their Fusilloni Mediterranei (with sorghum fusilloni, Mediterranean pesto, sautéed vegetables, chopped almonds). There's also a loyalty scheme that encourages you to opt for those lower carbon dishes.

And if you don't fancy their own combos, you can just make your own choosing the pasta, sauce and toppings yourself.

How will Islington cope with two pasta restaurants practically on top of each other? We'll see.
