Burger King opens a meat-free restaurant on Leicester Square

Burger King opens a meat-free restaurant on Leicester Square

We'd been hearing that Burger King were going to be trying something new with the reopening of their Leicester Square restaurant - and they've certainly done that, going completely meat-free.

We've had meat-free Prets, and a recent meat-free Honest Burgers but we think this is the first of the big fast-food giants to take the plunge.

This new restaurant adds fifteen new options to the menu - so they really are going all-in. They include a Plant-based Bakon Double Cheeeze XL (pictured above), a Vegan Cheeeze & Bakon Royale, a vegan Nugget Burger, a Plant-based Double Cheeezeburger, Plant-based Cheeeze & Bakon Whopper, Vegan Chilli Cheeeze Bites, Plant-based Onion Rings, and they'll also have a vegan Katsu range (that will also be going nationwide for a short time).

The existing  Plant-based Whopper and Vegan Royale will also be on the menu and there's a meat-free menu for kids too.

However - this is only a time-limited event of four weeks, after which we assume it'll go back to its meaty ways. A bit of a shame as we'd like to see them go the whole hog on this (if you'll excuse the expression). Maybe they will if it proves a big hit?
