25/2/22 - updated with launch details
Flesh & Buns are heading west for their third restaurant, opening up their latest just off High Street Kensington. Taking over what was previously Sticky Fingers on Phillimore Gardens, the new site will be their biggest yet and will offer Flesh & Buns’ usual Japanese izakaya and Nikkei-inspired dishes, along with whisky, sake, and beers for the full experience.
The food menu is split into several sections including small plates, sashimi, ceviche, maki, poké-don and of course the restaurant’s signature steamed bao buns. So we can expect the likes of:
- Smoked pork rib doused in tallow chilli honey glaze
- Spicy tuna with rocoto chilli and pickled daikon
- Ceviche Mixto – tuna, salmon, seabass, sweet potato
- Salted caramel chocolate fondant with matcha ice cream
Being inspired by Japanese izakayas, drinking is as much a part of the Flesh & Buns experience as the food. Highlights from the cocktail menu include the Yuzu Margarita (tequila, triple sec, lime juice, yuzu juice, agave syrup), while Japanese whiskies include a single malt from Akashi, a Yamazaki 12 y/o and Nikka from the barrel. A long list of sake includes a custom sake made for Flesh & Buns’ sister restaurant Bone Daddies.
Alongside the new Kensington opening, the two existing restaurants, in Covent Garden and Fitzrovia, will also be getting a refresh with updated interiors and menus, so it sounds like it's going to be a busy start to the year for these guys.
