Camberwell residents are soon going to have the perfect place to buy their daily comestibles when Gladwell's opens its doors this spring. The former Grade II listed bank will reopen as a grocery store, deli and wine vault. And it's down to the efforts of two key local businessman James Dye (who's behind Camberwell Arms and Frank’s Café) and Stanley Allen (Greensmiths and Peckham Springs).
In addition to selling everything from a slice of Neal's Yard cheese to a Flor pastry or a Fosse Meadows free range chicken the shop will also be a deli serving up coffee and pastries along with sarnies like salt beef bagels and spiced aubergine focaccia. The bank vault downstairs will be a natural wine cellar and bottle shop with plans for tastings and private events.
Other services they'll offer include a range of weekly grocery boxes for home delivery - £5 from which will go to the St Giles Trust Pantry.
