Updated 2/1/22 with the addition of Amrit Maan

Four people who are definitely starting 2022 on a high are the chef Angela Harnett, hotelier Robin Hutson, cookery writer Claudia Roden and restaurateur Amrit Maan. They're all beneficiaries in the New Year's Honours List.

Harnett and Hutson who were both given OBEs today are business partners at Hutson's Lime Wood Hotel where Angela runs the Hartnett and Holder restaurant. Of course, Angela is also behind the Michelin-starred Murano in Mayfair and the Cafe Murano group of restaurants.

"Thank you for all the lovely comments & congratulations for the OBE," tweeted Angela today. "[A] real honour made even more special to be awarded alongside Robin Hutson."

Joining them in celebrating today is renowned cookery writer Claudia Roden who was awarded a CBE. 85-year-old Roden is a prolific writer and expert on Middle Eastern food and she's still producing great works with Mediterranean being her latest, published in 2021.

Last, but by no means least, is restaurateur Amritpal Singh Maan of Punjab in Covent Garden who was made an OBE. He was honoured for his charitable work which, over the past few years, has included providing more than 200,000 meals to those in need during the Covid crisis. "This is for those that came before me and inspired the spirit of seva in me," said Amrit on Twitter, "and the many I've worked alongside who strive to make a difference."
