She's worked with Soho House's Nick Jones and Yotam Ottolenghi, now Turkish chef Esra Muslu is getting ready to open her first solo London venture.
Zahter is being described as a 'love letter' to Esra's Turkey. The whole thing sounds like they've imported everything from tiles to table linen from the chef's homeland. The three-floor restaurant in Carnaby takes over that large corner site as you turn from Newburgh Street into Foubert's Place.
The first floor will be the main dining room and up at the top will be The Loft which they'll use as a cookery school and events space.
As for the food, mezze will include golden beetroot with homemade dukkah and muhammarah along with dishes like:
- Smoked aubergine with fried chilli
- Domlasi with whole artichoke, spiced rice, sour cherries and almond
- Oil braised feta cream with charred fennel and dill
- Baklava with green pistachios and rose petals
A breakfast menu is also incoming. All in all, this sounds like a great addition to the Carnaby area.
