Atul Kochhar already has Kanishka in Mayfair, but he's getting ready to open his second new restaurant - this time in Westminster called Mathura.
He's taking over the old Grade II listed Westminster Fire Station. The original carriage doors will open into the restaurant and you'll even see the firemen's pole in there too. It's over two floors and alongside the restaurant, set around an open kitchen, there will be a separate bar, two private dining rooms and a chef's table.
As for the food, that's inspired by India and its surrounding countries, including China, Nepal and Sri Lanka. They seem to be keeping back details of the actual menu until the opening but we're told to expect lots of trolley action and at-table flambeeing.
Atul Kochhar says "It’s my love story to all the wonderful food I have eaten on my travels" and it should certainly be in an impressive setting.
