The man behind Anglo, Mark Jarvis, is getting ready to open his next restaurant, 1771 - taking over the space from Liv (which also had a menu by Jarvis). In its new guise, the menu aims to offer "refined, creative cooking using carefully grown locally sourced produce".
A single tasting menu will be available, much like Anglo and will kick off with:
- Cured trout and potato souffle in a parsley emulsion
- Oak-grilled langoustine in a shell emulsion served with white soy
- Poached halibut with mustard greens and charcoal
- Caramelised sourdough parfait
- Apple cake served alongside parsley root ice cream.
There will also be his signature cheese and onion malt loaf too - couldn't miss that off.
There's also a sharing menu with dishes including scallops barbecued in their shell served with seaweed butter or a whole truffle-roasted chicken and wood-fired jacket potato with cultured cream and caviar. And as for wines, expect a focus on Burgundy.
If you've been to Liv, expect an overhaul of the design too, with a "sacramento green" colour and a natural seagrass flooring bringing a whole new vibe to the restaurant. On top of that (or more accurately underneath), there's also a bar that has been decked out with Pop Art artwork - even down to an original Andy Warhol.
