If you've ever really, REALLY fancied a bao for breakfast and have had to wait until BAO opened the doors on one of their restaurants at midday, then we have glad tidings for you.
From the August bank holiday, they'll be launching their first-ever breakfast offering. Head to Café BAO in King’s Cross for a weekend-only feast of Taiwanese breakfast specials. And, god, they sound good:
On the menu they're promising:
- BAO Loaf, Butter and Syrup - a mini bao loaf filled with a thick slice of cold Longman salted butter and served with a jug of hot maple syrup
- Egg Yolk - BAO loaf bread with a mix of Neal’s Yard Dairy’s cheddar cheese, BAO Midnight Beer and mustard, grilled and topped with a cured egg yolk.
- Sausage Hash Brown Breakfast BAO filled with a sausage and cheese patty, hash brown and a fried egg.
- Taiwanese Savoury Soy Milk - flavoured with Taiwanese sun-dried daikon, soy sauce, vinegar and sesame oil, and served with crispy fried dough, or youtiao for dipping.
To go with all that you'll want to order something off the drinks menu. Maybe peanut milk, Taiwanese condensed milk tea or Hot Choc-otaro made with milk chocolate, honey and purple taro foam.
Now that sounds like a very promising start to any weekend in London.
