We already know that top Spanish chef Dani Garcia is opening a restaurant at the new Mondrian Shoreditch. Now we've got details of the other big food opening there, taking over the hotel's ground floor space.
Christina's will be the Mondrian's all-day eating space. But far from being a standard canteen for residents and locals, this genuinely sounds like it's going to be an interesting place to try.
In the mornings, they've partnered with hot new Belgravia opening, Chestnut Bakery, offering sweet and savoury pastries alongside coffee and juices. You'll want to swing by and try the miso salted caramel chocolate ganache croissant, for sure. Coffee comes courtesy of Redemption Roasters who've come up with a bespoke Christina’s coffee blend featuring washed and natural ethically sourced beans.
The food switches up a notch from lunchtime onwards with a menu devoted to the sando. Here it'll come in various different guises, using a 72 hour slow-fermented Tokyo milk bread with options including:
- Spicy fried chicken sando
- Egg & mayo sando
- Deep fried mortadella katsu sando
- Aubergine parmigiana sando
- Wagyu beef katsu sando
There's even a dessert option planned, with a fruit & cream sando on matcha milk bread.
As for the bar, they've brought in Marcis Dzelzainis as a consultant to show they mean business. He's worked on everything from Dandelyan to Satan's Whiskers and Sager & Wilde. His drinks list is being billed as "Italian Aperitivo drinks culture but with a British twist". So there'll be a Birch Bark Martini, Wild Nettle Spritz, Wild Meadow Sour and an Espresso Martini to enjoy. Wines come courtesy of Modal Wines who've put together a list of organic and biodynamic wines.
