What: Cafe Cecilia
In a nutshell: Canalside cafe from ex-River Cafe chef
Summing it all up: The chef son of Irish designer John Rocha is opening his first restaurant - a canalside cafe in Hackney.
The low-down
Down by the canal in Hackney, it looks as though an interesting cafe is getting ready to open.
The man behind it is Max Rocha, a chef who's worked at The River Cafe and St John Bread & Wine. More recently he's been showcasing his work through a series of supperclubs over the past few years and, in lockdown, has been running a delivery kitchen from A Flower Shop on Chatsworth Road.
If his surname rings a bell, it's because the Dubliner is the son of Irish designer John Rocha.
He's signed a lease at the new WMe8 development at Andrews Road down by the canal and is planning to open Cecila Cafe this summer.
If you'd like to try his food ahead of that, the delivery dishes sound great, such as Asparagus, purple sprouting broccoli & creme fraiche pasty. And Max is promising Potato, onion & sage gallettes on the menu when the cafe opens.
We'll add more details about the restaurant as we get it.
