8/7/21 - updated with the opening date
What: Bar Crispin
In a nutshell: Crispin Mk 2
Summing it all up: The people behind Crispin in Spitalfields are coming to Soho with a new natural wine bar (backed up by a great snacks list).
The low-down
Since opening in Spitalfields, Crispin has been a big hit with both its own chef and the occasional pop-up or residency. Now, they're expanding into Soho, taking up a space on Kingly Street with their new wine bar, Bar Crispin.
Primarily all about the wine, it'll have a list of 150 bottles curated by Crispin's head sommelier Stefano Cazzato alongside GM and in-house sommelier Alex Price. The list will take the same approach to its selection as the original Crispin - so that's old-world primarily and small producers. They'll also have monthly wine events, including tastings, food pairings & more.
On the food side of things, Crispin's head chef Brendan Lee has been working on an all-day snack menu. That'll include dishes like:
- Pig’s head slice
- Anchovy & potato focaccia, salsa verde
- Cured mackerel, tomato, summer herbs, pickled apple
- Beef tartare, smoked egg yolk, puffed wheat berries
- Summer brassica, romesco, saffron
- Flat fish of the day, broad beans, citrus butter
- Glazed pork belly, pink firs, pickled beets, pea shoots
- Black garlic ice cream, choc tuile
As for the bar itself, that will fit 20 inside plus another 10 on the terrace and there's a private dining room downstairs with the design taking on a retro look inspired by Soho in the 80s.
