Tom Kerridge is opening a Fish & Chips restaurant at Harrods, with lobster thermidor-topped chips

Tom Kerridge is opening a Fish & Chips restaurant at Harrods, with lobster thermidor-topped chips

Harrods really is getting in the big names right now. It's only a few weeks since they unveiled Jason Atherton's Harrods Social and now they've announced the arrival of Tom Kerridge in their Grade II listed Dining Hall.

The chef will be launching Kerridge’s Fish & Chips serving what they're describing as a premium seafood menu. It'll be a small affair with 24 seats tops (with just 16 being used while we're all social distancing). They'll have freshly caught turbot, lobster, rock oysters, Cornish squid and Dublin Bay prawns. All will be available with chips of course (including curry sauce if you fancy), so they're aiming for a pretty high-level fish & chips experience. There will also be cockle popcorn and malted beer vinegar and Morecambe Bay shrimps with spiced paprika butter and treacle bread.

It's not all seafood, though, as they'll also have Momma Bains' vegan samosa (yes, that's Sat Bains' mum) on the menu and desserts include flourless chocolate almond cake with salted caramel and vanilla chantilly, Eton Mess, bread and butter pudding and elderflower syllabub.

Here's what Tom Kerridge has to say about the new opening:

I am proud to bring my take on the best seafood dishes to the most iconic department store in the world. I really believe that British talent and produce are at the forefront of great cuisine and that is reflected in our team and the food we serve at Kerridge’s Fish & Chips in Harrods. The dishes champion the highest quality ingredients including incredible lobster, oysters and freshly caught fish from some of the best suppliers in Britain and beyond. They are all cooked to perfection and served with sensational sides such as the Triple Cooked Chips topped with an option of Matson curry sauce, Lobster Thermidor, Morcambe Bay Shrimps or Caviar – it’s an unbeatable combination

Yes, you read that right - chips topped with lobster thermidor (£14) or caviar. Very Harrods.  Although if you fancy your chips covered with 250g of caviar, that's going to set you back £495. An altogether more entry level option is the 10g one which is £32.
