In a nutshell: London-style pizza for Peckham
Summing it all up: This new pizzeria in Peckham's Copeland Park is aiming to serve up what they say is London-style pizza - with no delicious topping taboo.
The low-down
2021 is looking up for the residents of Peckham with the news that a new pizzeria is on the way. Why is this one so interesting, you might ask? Mike's is from the team who brought you the Camberwell Arms and Frank's Cafe.
The pizzeria, which opens in the Copeland Park/Bussey Building complex this spring, taking over the old Forzawin site, says it'll take the various styles of making it across the world and give it a London spin. "If the only rule is making the most delicious thing you can think of," they say, "then who says what should or shouldn’t be on a pizza."
Here's a taste of the menu:
- ‘Bonita” - Potato, cime di rapa, wild garlic, almond fonduta
- ‘Nicoletta’ - Pineapple, mozzarella, scotch bonnet onions, mortadella
- ‘Lupe’ - Tropea onion, white onion, mascarpone, mozzarella, pecorino
- Smoked pork belly, burrata, chard, salted chilli
The restaurant will have room for both inside and outside dining - and you'll also be able to pick up a pizza or get it delivered. In addition to the pizza, they're also promising a selection of small plates, a weekend brunch menu and a seasonally changing range of natural wines and locally brewed beers.
