Sumi in Notting Hill is the new restaurant by sushi master Endo Kazutoshi

Here's something that escaped our attention in the run-up to Christmas - Endo Kazutoshi opened a new sushi restaurant. If the name sounds familiar, it's because he's the man behind Endo at Rotunda, the very well rated high-end sushi restaurant with a view in White City.

Sumi had planned to open fully in December were it not for the restrictions. Instead, they've decided to open as click & collect only, and if you're in that part of town right now that sounds like very good news for you.

The main event is the Sumi Box (£45). That's comprised of: Robata grilled Salmon, Tuna two ways, Bara Chirashi (a Selection of premium fresh and cured fish), Akami (Lean tuna, Spain), Toro (Fatty tuna, Spain) Sake ( Salmon, Scotland ) Hamachi ( Yellowtail, Japan) Hatate (Scallop, Scotland) Tai (Sea Bream, France) Unagi (Eel, Holland). There's also a sashimi box (£35) and a vegan box (£25) and you can also order an omakase meal in the evening.

As you can see, there's a strong sense of provenance here, and the boxes just look beautiful. The snippets of the restaurant itself on Instagram also impress - so when it's allowed to open again, this should be a big hit. In the meantime, order up the boxes early as they only have limited amounts per day.
