The low-down
Over the past couple of years, Islington restaurant Hot Stone has been quietly building a stellar reputation for its sushi. William Sitwell called it "genuinely fabulous" in his Telegraph review. Now the Chapel Market spot is expanding, with plans to open a second restaurant. The site in question is in Windmill Street in Fitzrovia. There, they'll have space for a restaurant and separate sushi bar.
Running the food side of things is Hot Stone's executive chef Padam Raj Rai, who gained 19 years of experience in top-level Japanese restaurants like Tsukiji, Nobu and Zuma before opening his own restaurant in Islington. On the menu, you can expect to find Hot Stone's Ishiyaki dishes cooked on - the name kind of gives it away - hot stones. There'll also be sushi and sashimi alongside hot dishes such as 48-hour marinated black cod, homemade tofu and hamachi cheeks.
As with Islington, this Hot Stone will serve up certified Kobe beef, making it one of just eight restaurants in the UK to do so.
To begin with the new restaurant will open for collection and delivery with an At Home menu that comprises hot and chilled sashimi, carpaccio and maki along with traditional Nepalese plates like gundruk and sweet yomari.

When does it open? 28 February 2021 - starting with delivery and collection. There's a launch offer whereby you buy a voucher for a meal at the resaurant when it opens. You get a 3 course Japanese wagyu with champagne for just £29 (usually £110). Offer runs till 3 February 2021.
Delivery: Within a six mile radius or collection from the restaurant.
