The latest addition to Pop Brixton is something of a throwback, with a restaurant that's harking back to the 80s, both in food and name.
The puntastic Only Food and Courses is the latest from chefs Robbie Lorraine and Martyn Barrett who have been popping up in Kent, and it has its roots in greasy spoon cafes but is very much taken to the next level. The eclectic menu features dishes like Duck Eclairs, Crab Scotch Eggs (a substantial meal!) and Lobster Doughnuts - all of which sound right up our street. Also on the menu you'll find:
- Scorched Fillet of Mackerel Toasted Horseradish, Vodka and Beetroot Purée
- House Cured Blackened Salmon, Cultured Cream Jelly and Dill Oil
- Potato Waffle with Poached Eggs and Birch Syrup (v)
- Pressed Salt Beef, Slow Cooked Egg Yolk and Pickled Shallots
There's also a supper club with a weekly changing menu "inspired by popular culture and culinary trends from the 80s and 90s" - so keep an eye out for the menus. Pop Brixton has a habit of getting future big hits to set up in containers, so this should be well worth a look.
