Out of relatively nowhere, London stalwart The River Cafe has decided that now is the time to expand - and they're opening a new restaurant called Sylvia's.
They're not moving too far away from their own back yard though, as it'll be making use of the old meeting rooms at (River Cafe owner Ruth Rogers husband) Richard Rogers Architects. In an email sent by River Cafe, they say:
The menu will have great pastas, risottos and soups, with a real emphasis on winter vegetables as a main course - baked ricotta, roasted trevise, artichokes 'alla romana.' And, of course, our River Cafe desserts. To make it really special and festive there will be a pianist.
We also imagine that this will be significantly cheaper than The River Cafe, which can be wallet-murderously expensive.
Is this a full-time restaurant or just for Covid times? We'll have to see - we'll add more news as we get it.
