Their restaurants may be closed (with a new one near Oxford Street opening imminently) but Flat Iron have taken the opportunity to launch their very first meat boxes.
Flat Iron rears its own cattle on a farm in Thirsk, Yorkshire, and the meat boxes are sourced from the very same cows. Their Head of Beef, Fred Smith, has selected the meat and it's been hand-prepared in the butchery by their in-house butcher, Calum Eades.
Each £90 box has:
- 4 steaks
- 4 burgers
- 1kg of mince
- A roasting joint
The first box sold out in uber-quick time, but they'll be putting up new boxes each week, every Tuesday morning. So keep an eye on both their site and their Instagram feed to be sure of grabbing one when it's on sale.
That's not all they're selling though - as the shop is also selling the mini Flat Iron cleavers for the first time. Those are bound to be useful for Christmas presents.
We've actually had the opportunity to try this box and can attest to the excellent quality of the meat. It really is quite striking how the quality of the produce shines through and the smell when cooking is quite something else. So, based on our own experience, the box comes with a very high recommendation. Here's some of what we've cooked so far:
