What: Rudie's Jerk Shack
In a nutshell: Caribbean in Brixton
Summing it all up: Rudie's have already built up a big following in both Shoreditch and Borough Market, but this will be their first main restaurant. Jamaican jerk chicken will be at the centre of the menu.
The low-down
Rudies have been serving up Caribbean food at Boxpark Shoreditch and Borough Market - but now husband and wife team Matin and Michelle Miah are getting ready for their biggest venture yet, a two-floor restaurant in Brixton Village.
Based on Market Row, with space for tables both inside and out, it's all about their Jamaican real jerk dishes. Meat and fish are marinated for 24 hours in their secret blend of herbs and spices and then grilled and smoked slowly over charcoal in a steel drum. Jerk chicken will be the main attraction, but new dishes are also coming to the menu at Brixton. We'll add the info as soon as we get it, but expect Jamaican curry goat, jerk calamari, ackee and saltfish and more besides.
Drinks-wise, their rum punch will be front and centre alongside Guinness and more.
