Update: Marina O'Loughlin has reviewed The Halal for her review in this week's Sunday Times. It's an emotional read and it certainly sounds as if Mehnaz's Twitter plea has worked wonders for her Dad's restaurant as they're "having to beg people not to turn up without bookings in case they have no tables". We love a story with a happy ending.

Now this is a story to warm the cockles of your heart. Last night Twitter user Mehnaz took to social media to try and drum up some support for her dad's restaurant in Aldgate.
Hey twitter! Not one to do this, but my dad owns the oldest Indian restaurant in East London and has been struggling with customers so please show some love! If you're in Aldgate come have a curry, I'm biased but it's the best! Below is my grandad in the 70s vs my dad now❤️ pic.twitter.com/DHFFFMiDBf

In further tweets she explained that the Halal Restaurant had first opened its doors way back in 1939. It was owned by her grandfather first and now her dad runs the show.
Too hardworking! 🥺 Only takes days off for Christmas and Boxing day! Corona hit him hard😢

The whole thing clearly struck a chord, and along with going viral, she had some really lovely responses about the restaurant itself.
Omg my dad used to work here back in the late 80s and 90s. Your family were amazing and so supportive...used to turn up with things for our house for us - our first bikes were given to us by your family. A great support for a family that wasn’t well off...and the food was great?

If you fancy trying it, and after this who wouldn't, they're on UberEats, Just Eat and you can also dine in. Here's hoping you find it hard to book a table...
