Need a reason to feel good about staying in town for the summer? Well how about the fact that top chef Nuno Mendes is about to start doing weekend brunches in De Beauvoir?
The Chiltern Firehouse chef will be stepping in to launch a brunch menu at his local pub, The Scolt Head. And, God, it does sound good.
As you might expect, eggs are a recurrent theme. So you'll find them teamed with:
- Secret Smokehouse smoked trout on lemony latkes
- Rare Breed ham with smokey Hollandaise
- Rare Breed beef steak with chimichurri
Fans who've been missing Nuno’s Portuguese food since the sad closure of his Spitalfields restaurant Taberna do Mercado will be pleased to learn his Piri Piri chicken is back and is being served with a heritage tomato salad and green beans tossed in horseradish and lemon.
And yes, Nuno's custard tart will also be on the menu, along with his amazing olive oil cake.
It wouldn't be brunch without some cocktails, so the pub has come up with two new ones to go with the menu - Nuno's Bloody Mary and Scolt Chelada (a blend of Nuno's secret Bloody Mary mix topped with Scolt Head lager).
“I am incredibly happy and proud to work on this amazing neighbourhood project with a dear friend at my favourite local," says Nuno. "The Scolt Head, in my opinion, embodies that spirit as a business that continued to serve and support the local community through the difficult times we’ve just emerged from. I’m chuffed to collaborate with their amazing team.”
