Queen's Park restaurant Milk Beach is expanding - with more alfresco seating and a new bar

A lot of restaurants in London have taken the enforced downtime of lockdown to take stock of their business. And over in Queen's Park, Aussie restaurant Milk Beach has decided that expansion is the way forward.

The team behind the all-day restaurant, which is tucked away on Lonsdale Road mews, have taken over next door Hugo's Restaurant. They'll be doing renovations over the coming two months, during which time they'll run as an outside shop and weekend BBQ.

When they emerge from their makeover they'll have loads more alfresco seating (along with welcome heating so you can eat outdoors all year round) and a brand new bar serving low-intervention wines, cocktails and beer on tap.

Head chef Darren Leadbeater (ex-Frenchie, Wild Honey and Brunswick House) will also be showcasing a bigger and better dinner menu. We're told to expect a seasonal pie + wine offer for two, along with dishes like:

  • Fried whitebait with Tasmanian pepper berries and yoghurt tartare
  • Squid ink tagliatelle with crab
  • Coffee custard tart

But don't worry, their awesome brunches will still be on offer during the day, enhanced by new additions like folded eggs and Vietnamese crab curry on house-made crumpets and soba noodles with confit salmon and bacon dashi. All of which sounds like a trip to North West London should be on the cards for the end of summer.
