Yet another London store which blossomed all too briefly in the weeks before lockdown closed it was Knoops - a hot chocolate shop at Clapham Junction. The original one, which opened in Rye back in 2013 had built up quite the fanbase for its continental hot chocolates.
And this isn't just any old chocolate drink - the chocolate used ranges from 28% up to 100% cocoa and you'll find a mix of single origins and blends. Owner Jens Knoop has spent lockdown building up Knoop's online shop too - so if you want to buy 10 different types of chocolate flakes or a Knoopifier hot chocolate maker then that's the place to go. There are also plans afoot to open a second London store, on Kensington High Street.
But while hot chocolate may be the last thing you'd fancy during the current heatwave, their chocolate affogatos and frothy milkshakes sound just the ticket. And they've now reopened for takeaways.
“Trying to make people smile with a delicious chocolate drink has become my passion over the last few years," says Jens.
