Chefs at home - what London's chefs are cooking for themselves during lockdown (15 May)

Looking for inspiration during lockdown? With chefs at home rather than in their restaurant kitchens, many of them are showing just what's possible to knock up in your own home. We've picked five of the best examples we've spotted on Instagram from the past week.  

Alistair Maddox - Silver Lining

Alistair is the owner of Hackney's Silver Lining and Every Cloud and his dish to try this week is this heavenly-sounding crab custard made with the brown meat of the crab topped with an Asian inspired salad using the white meat.

Andy Ward - Harrods

In the things-to-do-with-leftover-sourdough series, Harrods chef Andy has knocked up chicken Kiev using leftover sourdough, focaccia and some mixed seeds for the crumb and stuffing it with wild garlic butter.

Thane Prince

Over in Islington, food writer and broadcaster Thane took inspiration from a delivery from her local fishmonger - the excellent Steve Hatt to knock up this crab linguine.

Edward Moore - Umu

Edward, a chef at Mayfair's Umu has been keeping busy during lockdown. This is his twice-cooked pork which is a Sichuanese dish that was apparently eaten at secret society meetings in the days pre-Communism.

Toby Burrowes (former Head Chef - Elystan Street)

If you fancy making your own version of Toby's pissaladiere with pickled anchovies and slowly caramelised onions he's helpfully put the full recipe on his stories.
