Have you been going low on pork pies and confit potatoes? Well, if you're local to Clerkenwell, the painful wait is over. The Quality Chop House shop closed just as the current lockdown began, as many restaurants were unsure of their next moves. But as of today, they're back in action.
There's a slightly new look - things have been moved around to facilitate social distancing - but they're promising that all their usual stock is in place, and with one chef in the kitchen, there should be a steady supply of pies, smoked cod's roe and other delights. And yes, the butcher and wine shop is reopening too. It's takeaway only at the moment, but a new delivery method is being planned - so we'll update when we hear more about that.
They'll also be joining DeliverAid to support NHS staff with regular meals.
This is part of a slowly growing trend we're seeing. Some of the restaurants that closed just over a week ago have been re-tooling for the new rules and safety procedures - and are starting to return in a new form. Keep an eye out much more news like this in coming weeks.
(Also - no, this isn't an April Fool, in case you were thinking. We're not that mean!)
