What: The Patate
In a nutshell: Beefy French pop-up goes permanent
Summing it all up: They've been serving up their beef bourguignon buns across town and now The Patate are about to settle down with their first permanent restaurant in Kentish Town.
The low-down
We were sad to hear of the demise of Beef and Brew, a restaurant we loved in both its incarnations. But as is the way in London, it's never too long before a new restaurant appears in a space that another has vacated. Beef and Brew is at least being replaced with something equally beefy - it's the turn of The Patate, which has taken over the Kentish Town site.
The Patate, set up by school-friends Paul-Henry De Vassoigne and Martin Le Boulc’h, are best known for their current Camden Market street food operation and various Kerb locations around town, with the beef bourguignon in a bun being the main attraction (we can see why) and that will lead the menu at their new restaurant. There will also be:
- French Poutine - grilled beef Bourguignon and jus, French fries ‘Maison’ and your choice of cheese.
- The Patate Toastie, with your choice of cheese in a toasted brioche bun,
- The Veggie Burger - grilled mushrooms, bûche de chèvre (goat cheese), and truffle honey in a brioche bun.
You'll have the option to choose your cheese too. They'll have Raclette de Savoie, Fourme d’Ambert, Applewood Smoked Cheddar, and a selection of new cheeses on the menu. You can have these melted over your fries, naturally.
