Taco Yaki pairs Japanese and Latin American food with crazy golf at Birdies in Battersea Power Station

Taco Yaki

In recent years, crazy golf has somehow become a big thing in London - and it's usually backed up with decent food and drink too.

That certainly seems to be the case with Birdies, opening in Battersea Power Station, which has ex Gilgamesh and House of Ho chef Ian Pengelley in charge of the food. His restaurant there will be Taco Yaki. As you might be able to gather from the name, that's a fusion of Asian and Latin American food.

In practice, that means yakitori and filled tacos, as well as the following:

  • Their signature Takoyaki dish - octopus, dumplings with Japanese mayo, signature sauce and pickled ginger
  • Colonel's Sando - Katsu chicken, spice curdito, and drizzled with a signature sauce.
  • The vegan Cactus Birdies - spicy cactus, sweetcorn, ginger edamame, coconut feta with toasted fennel
  • Peru-Peru Chicken with chicken thigh, bell peppers, anticucho sauce and salsa en polvo from the Yaki menu.

All that AND a game of crazy golf.
