New to Peckham Levels is Kingston Kigali, an East African and Caribbean inspired food vendor. It's run by Stacey Uwimana who combines her own Rwandese Mukiga heritage with her business partner Salma's British Jamaican background to serve up vegan food with a difference.
Inspired by the food they eat at home, they've come up with an offering intended to put Rwandan food on the map. "We aim... to get people discovering the beauty of a country historically known for a war which cost millions of innocent lives," says Stacey.
The menu includes Mum's homemade samosas, coconut curry chickpeas, jerk lentil stew and their signature KK Burger which is a plant-based patty with vegan cheese, salad and vegan mayo in a bun. They'll be serving that alongside rum punch and homemade sorrel and ginger juice.
