10/10/19 - updated with soft launch details
Well, this is exciting. If you've been wondering who's taking over the site vacated by Rok on Curtain Road, then we have the answer. It's going to be a long term, six-month residency Emile - run by Damian Clisby ex Restaurant Director of Petersham Nurseries, and Nick Gibson, landlord of the Drapers Arms.
In an Instagram post, Gibson revealed that he was "Going to do a little thing with @damian_clisby to keep ourselves out of trouble...".
They're setting out their stall as "simple, seasonal cooking with exceptional wines to match". Sample dishes you'll see on the menu include:
- Pecorino, pear, pumpkin, speck
- Celeriac, cavolo nero, apple, toasted rye bread
- Potato & butter ravioli, porcini
- Venison loin, Kalibos cabbage, plum & thyme
- Paddock Farm pork rib, anchovy, capers, for two-three
- Chocolate, hazelnuts & olive oil
For alternate Sundays, they'll be doing what they dub a Sunday Series - three-course lunches for £35 - which sound amazing. Upcoming options include a Moroccan roast goat with preserved figs and almonds and a roast aged rump of beef with dauphinoise potatoes. If you're looking ahead for Christmas party plans, the one for Sunday 15 December with roast goose, prunes and Armagnac sounds unmissable.
On the wine front, Nick has come up with a wine list he says will be "Short, interesting and competitively priced; predominantly Old World, from accessible classics to wine-geek curiosities.”
