Mele e Pere launches The Deli Upstairs with sandwiches, salads and more

If you're working in or around Soho, then a change that's coming to Mele e Pere may be very welcome. The small upstairs section, that was primarily a bar before, is being converted into a daytime deli.

It's inspired by owners Peter and Chris Hughes’ childhood in Milan, so will be a deli serving up sandwiches and salads with a very Italian feel. All the sandwiches are made with Bread Ahead ciabatta, fresh from Borough Market, and include:

  • The Toscano, with salty, fennel-seasoned finocchiona salami from Tuscany, as well as truffle, artichoke heart and Taleggio
  • The Bologna, with Mortadella from the region, spiced with rose harissa, and loaded with heritage tomatoes and gorgonzola
  • The Caprese, with creamy mozzarella fiordilatte, heritage tomatoes, roast aubergine and artichoke heart.

They'll also have seasonal sides, like cavolo rosso and shredded carrot slaw for their salad boxes, paired with mozzarella fiordilatte and homemade basil pesto, or smoky grilled aubergine, pomegranate and sundried tomato pesto.

But if you're worried about missing the bar - that'll be back in action every evening.
