What: Officina 00
In a nutshell: Pasta workshop and restaurant for Old Street
Summing it all up: Here in London they've worked for Kiln and Soho House, but the duo behind this new Italian hail from Naples originally.
The low-down
Given Londoners' deep-rooted love for all foods Italian, the folk behind a new pasta workshop opening up near Old Street should be onto a good thing.
Officina 00 is going to serve up regional Italian pastas, all created in front of diners in a 'theatre kitchen'. The chaps behind it are Elia Sebregondi (former head chef of Bone Daddies and most recently Sous at Kiln) and Director Enzo Mirto (former GM of Ella Canta), both of whom grew up in Naples.
As the name suggests, the menu here will be carb-heavy - there'll be freshly baked sourdough, Italian pastries and every kind of pasta-based dish. Two key regular dishes will be occhi filled with a braised pork Genovese, sour parsley and provolone as well as orecchiette with peperoncini verde and almond pesto.
There'll also be a bar menu featuring - and we can see this hitting Insta big time - fried ravioli with a cacio e pepe filling. Drinks are nice and simple, with Italian red wine and white wine on tap as well as by the bottle and a range of creative twists on classic Italian cocktails.
You'll find them in the same new development as Tayer + Elementary.
