Flesh and Buns are launching the lunchtime Poke-Don mash-up

Flesh and Buns are launching the lunchtime only Poke-Don mash-up

Flesh and Buns are getting into the poke business - but they're doing it with a twist. Called Poke-Don, they'll be creating a hybrid between a poke dish and a donburi. Poke was made by Japanese communities in Hawaii using cut raw fish and a selection of fruit and vegetable toppings - adapted from donburi, where cooked rice was topped with ingredients from other parts of their menu and served quickly to tables.

Their hybrids will take in the meats smoked onsite and include dishes like:

  • Chilli rubbed smoked brisket, soy braised shitake, chipotle miso, broccoli, steamed rice
  • Ceviche mixto, avocado, shiso, yuzu and yellow pepper mayo, popcorn, sushi rice
  • Chicken and veg katsu, secret recipe curry sauce, pickled, daikon, cabbage, steamed rice

It's all kicking off as part of what they're calling a "restaurant within a restaurant" at their restaurant near Oxford Circus. To start with, it'll only be available on weekday lunches (eat-in, takeaway or delivery) with prices starting at just over a tenner. And on top of that, they're also launching a new terrace just in time for summer.
