If you missed Lucky and Joy on any of their recent residencies, then July is a time to make up for that. Led by Pete Kelly and chef Ellen Parr, they'll be back serving up regional Chinese food at La Despensa in Second Home Spitalfields. Their favourites will be on the menu as well as new dishes inspired by recent trips to China. We were rather impressed when we visited their Bethnal Green residency.
Here's some of what's on the menu:
- Yunnan smashed cucumbers - 5
- Tomato and kohlrabi (vg) - 6.5
- Spinach with garlic and ginger (vg) - 5.5
- Sesame noodles (v) - 6
- Grandma’s potatoes (vg) - 6
- Xi’an lamb burger - 6
- Grilled aubergine with silken tofu (vg) - 8.5
- Big plate chicken - 12
- Crispy squid with chilli and lime - 12
On top of that, expect cocktails, natural wine and plenty of Tsingtao,
