A Hot Dinners exclusive
What: Roastery and Toastery
In a nutshell: Cheese toasties in Chalk Farm
Summing it all up: Oliver Peyton's sisters have opened their own cafe in Chalk Farm. It's all about coffee and lots of toasted cheese sandwiches...
The low-down
Eagle-eyed viewers of Oliver Peyton on Instagram would have recently seen him chowing down on a cheese toastie - all to support the new cafe that's just been opened by his sisters. That's Siobhan, Marie and Caitriona Peyton, who are all behind Roastery and Toastery that's just outside Chalk Farm station.
As the name might give away, it's all about coffee and toasted cheese sandwiches. The latter are made with sourdough from Peyton and Byrne and comes two ways - the traditional pocket made in a hot sealed sandwich machine and the classic toasted sandwich, compressed between two hot grills.
The cheese involved will be Wookey Hole Cheddar, Red Leicester, Stilton and Gruyere - and options include:
- The Classic with Roastery & Toastery’s house cheese blend, plum tomatoes, and spring onion
- The Frenchie with gruyere, thyme and caramelised onions
- The Chilli Chaser with fresh habanero peppers and jalapeno relish
As for the coffee, that's made with 100% Arabica beans from Palmital Estate, Brazil, La Acacias Estate, Columbia and Beneficico Santa Rosa, Honduras. And they'll have a special coffee blend on rotation too.
And finally, there will be pastries, breads, viennoiserie and cakes from the bakery - including a grilled banana, melted dark chocolate and salted caramel brioche. Which yes, does sound rather splendid.
