What: The Buxton
In a nutshell: Brick Lane gets a pub with rooms from The Culpeper team
Summing it all up: The team responsible for The Culpeper in Aldgate have a new project - they're opening this pub and hotel on Brick Lane which has a residents-only rooftop terrace.
The low-down
If your idea of the perfect pub is one where you can climb upstairs and go to bed instead of having to Uber it home, then The Buxton may be the place for you.
This pub on Brick Lane (it's taking over where The Archers used to be) is going to have 15 hotel rooms upstairs from its ground floor pub and restaurant. It'll be perfect for either crashing out after a fun night downstairs or as a handy spot if you fancy a proper East End night out. From the team behind The Culpeper, the seven-story space will feature all manner of local touches from the London Fields artwork to an iron staircase made in Hackney for accessing the bedrooms.
On the ground floor, you'll find a pub with an open kitchen and bar with room for 30 - and that will be serving up a menu of regional British and European dishes. Here's a taster:
- British Asparagus, Polenta Chip, Stracciatella & E.V.O Oil
- Dexter Beef, Celeriac Remoulade Garlic & Honey Puree
- Treacle Tart with Clotted Cream
The cocktails will be made using ingredients from their rooftop garden including the "Parisian Ritz" - Cognac, Maraschino, lemon, bitters and Prosecco and the "Sgroppino" - vodka, elderflower, lemon sorbet, mint and Prosecco.
And the best bit about staying in this pub with rooms - 15 of them, each priced at a flat rate of £100 a night - will be the guest-only rooftop terrace with views across East London.
