What: Siren at the Goring
In a nutshell: Nathan Outlaw does seafood at an iconic London hotel
Summing it all up: Nathan Outlaw is opening a new restaurant at The Goring in Belgravia - a more casual seafood-led affair that's the hotel's first new restaurant in over 100 years.
It's all change at the Goring. After over a century of business (and the place you're most likely to see the Queen pop round for dinner), it's about to launch a new restaurant with Nathan Outlaw, who’s made the short move over from his previous restaurant at The Capital. After announcing the news in December last year, we’ve now got a lot more details…
Called Siren, the new restaurant will be launching in a brand new space that overlooks The Goring’s private garden – the hotel’s existing Michelin-starred Dining Room restaurant will continue as usual. Siren will be all about the best seafood delivered fresh from Cornwall (where Outlaw also has two restaurants) and the menu is sounding like an absolute winner already.
Dishes we’re expecting to see include:
- Cured monkfish, ginger, fennel and yoghurt
- Cuttlefish black pudding, apple and kohlrabi
- Turbot herbed and battered with warm tartare sauce
- Red mullet with devilled shrimp butter and chicory
- Lobster grilled over fire with herbs and garlic
- Gooseberry pavlova with custard ice cream
- Strawberry tart with yoghurt sorbet.
Russell Sage has led the design for Siren’s interiors which will feature a lot of glass to make the most of the garden views. The garden has been redesigned too with lots of new herbs planted for use in the kitchen. Inside there’ll be nods to the seaside with hand-crafted plasterwork depicting mythical sea creatures and marine life.
But that’s not all. The Goring Bar has also been given a face lift by Sage too, with a whole new design and cocktail menu plus some excellent-sounding bar snacks. The cocktail list will focus on British spirits and will include the likes of 'Rosehip Royale’ – Pimm’s No. 6 Cup combined with Sacred Rosehip Cup, strawberries, cucumber, mint and rose, topped with Champagne – and the 'Garden Gimlet', a floral take on the classic.
On the bar snacks front there’s going to be lobster scampi with chilli and pepper jam; crab scones; and a smoked fish platter with horseradish and lemon.
Looks like The Goring is going to be quite the place to be
