What: It's Pleat
In a nutshell: H&M get into the cafe game at Westfield Londonnugget
Summing it all up: Clothing giant H&M choose London for their new cafe concept's first opening outside of Sweden.
The low-down
You can already buy clothes and homeware there, now H&M is expanding into cafe territory with the opening of its first UK cafe. It's Pleat is now open at the clothing company's Westfield London (White City) store and is only their fourth cafe, following the opening of the first It's Pleat in Stockholm last year.
Back then Vogue described the offering as a place you could "Unwind in a tranquil environment and browse a predominantly health-conscious menu".
If you're wondering what's on the menu for Westfield shoppers, expect a cafe-style menu that mixes healthy options and treats like cardamom or cinnamon buns and banana cake. Morning options include overnight oats with chia-raspberry jam, cacao-nut spread and pleat granola and rainbow fruit platters. And there'll be bigger dishes on from lunch like:
- Kimchy Whimsy Salad (£4.50) - sesame roasted mushrooms, black rice with black beans, quinoaand toasted sesame seeds. massaged kale & savoy cabbage, roasted butternut squash, beetroot-pickled swede, kimchi.
- Club Sandwich (£6)- sourdough bread, smoked free range chicken, free range egg, kombucha mayonnaise, tomato and chilli salsa, rocket, avocado and smoked cheese.
Sandwiches will be made using London bakery The Bread Station and featuring fillings like avocado with chickpeas, pickled jalapeno, lime & spring onions, kale, cocktail tomato and herb oil or maybe mozzarella, cheddar, smoked free-range chicken, pickled red onion, rocket, basil, herb oil and dukkah.
They're also doing their bit for the environment with much of the food packaging being decomposable, and they'll be making their own compost with that on ite.
